Bedrock Marks Detroit’s Month of Design with a Series of Citywide Arts, Entertainment & Cultural Experiences

September 5, 2023 [DETROIT] – Bedrock announces a series of citywide shopping, dining and architectural experiences to celebrate Detroit’s rich cultural and artistic heritage during the 2023 Month of Design. Starting today through September 30, guests will have access to exclusive exhibits curated by local artists, special Month of Design shopping promotions and augmented reality applications as they explore Detroit’s most iconic art and architecture.

“As we welcome back Detroit’s Month of Design, we celebrate the community of artists, entrepreneurs, professionals and residents that intrinsically make our city a vibrant destination filled with creativity and ingenuity,” said Ivy Greaner, Bedrock’s chief operating officer. “The partnership with Design Core is just one way that we can offer a platform to showcase the immense talent and businesses that call Detroit home.” 

Bedrock’s Detroit Month of Design experiences include:

SHOP AND SEE

In partnership with Design Core, Bedrock will host a “Shop and See” event series in September. Local designers and creators will be paired with downtown businesses to exhibit custom artwork and provide visitors with the chance to shop and see the collections on display.

SHOP AND SIP

As part of Shop and See, guests can participate in “Shop and Sip,” a one-day shopping experience to access exclusive in-store promotions, an influencer-led tour of the Shop and See exhibits and a “sip” of a specially crafted Design Core and Eastern Market Brewery beer at each stop.

PARKER’S ALLEY IN BLOOM

In collaboration with Shinola Hotel and Parker’s Alley retailers, Bedrock will host a weekend-long floral festival to honor Detroit’s everblooming landscape. Explore the alley in full bloom, collect complimentary flowers, attend a floral scent-making workshop, sip specialty floral-themed drinks, and enjoy limited-time promotions and more.

BOOK TOWER HISTORIC EXHIBITION & AUGMENTED REALITY EXPERIENCE

Choose your own adventure when you stop by Book Tower (1265 Washington Ave.), downtown’s historic and architectural gem filled with a curated collection of art by Library Street Collective.  

On the main level, explore the Book Tower Historic Exhibition curated through a partnership with Randall Book of the Book family, the Detroit Historical Society, and Kraemer Design Group. Visitors can also take a self-guided tour through the iconic property with the Experience Book Tower App (available on Apple or Google).

ELECTRIFLY DETROIT IMMERSIVE ART GALLERY

You’re invited to join Bedrock, in collaboration with BrandXR and Electrifly, to meet us at the intersection of art and technology for an immersive experience at the First National Building (660 Woodward Ave.). Detroit’s most beloved murals, painted by local legends and international names, will be brought to life at a free, interactive pop-up art gallery featuring more than 20 augmented reality experiences via the Electrifly App (available on Apple or Google). Interactive art pieces will also be available for purchase. Weekends will feature live music.

When: Sept. 8 to Sept. 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
